About Us
Our Legacy
For 84 years, EvClay Public Relations has been a steadfast presence in South Florida's corporate communications landscape. Established in 1940 as the first-ever PR firm in Florida, we're committed to providing clients with individualized service, and have established a record of success in serving the diverse South Florida community.
Pioneering Spirit
Firm founder and namesake, Everett Clay, had an avid passion for sports. After attending the University of Florida in the early 1930s, he became the youngest sports editor at The Miami Herald. While living his dream and breathing in “printer’s ink,” he proposed starting the area’s first public relations firm. In 1940, Coach, as he was affectionately known, established Everett Clay Associates (ECA). From its inception, the firm laid the bedrock that continues to define it and from which it has not, and will not deviate – values, adaptability, and a charitable mentality.
A Tradition
of Excellence
Under the leadership of Everett's daughter, Dana Clay, ECA transformed into a culturally and digitally strategic boutique agency. Dana navigated the firm toward embracing diversity and inclusivity long before it became the norm. Today, under its current leadership, EvClay Public Relations thrives as a women-owned, minority-run entity. The firm has garnered a sterling reputation by serving a diverse array of clients, including leaders in the fields of governmental agencies, transportation, utilities, real estate, manufacturing, engineering, medical, food and beverage sales, pari-mutuels, and tourism.
From navigating the digital landscape to championing diversity and inclusivity, we've remained committed to not being the biggest, but being the best.
Rooted in Community: The Scholarship
In furthering its commitment to the public relations industry in South Florida, the firm helped establish the Ev Clay/PRSA Miami Chapter Endowment Fund, now the largest scholarship fund in the nation operated by a PRSA chapter. Established in 1987 in memory of Ev, the endowment fund supports excellence in the public relations profession by awarding scholarships to outstanding students. Current president, Melisa, was an Ev Clay Scholarship winner. Today, the Miami Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has honored Ev Clay's memory by awarding $366,500 in scholarships to more than 185 deserving students studying public relations at various colleges and universities in South Florida. Last year, scholarships were awarded to students attending Florida International University, Florida Memorial College, Miami Dade College, and the University of Miami.
