June 1st Event Kicks Off Hurricane Season

Provide media support for Home Depot’s "Hurricane Expo," a community event designed to help residents prepare early for hurricane season.

Foster a positive image for Home Depot stores locally and nationally, including the Hispanic market.

Promote Home Depot as a good corporate citizen through its involvement with disaster preparation and relief.

Generate public awareness of hurricane season and the need to prepare in advance.

Drafted press materials and contacted media in advance of June 1st to promote the event and Home Depot’s involvement.

Secured interest for the event by tying in the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Andrew, the 1992 storm that ravished South Florida, including a Home Depot store in Cutler Ridge. The “Hurricane Expo” took place at the site of the rebuilt store.

Coordinated media interviews at the event with store managers and public relations manager of the Home Depot’s southern division.

Secured extensive positive media coverage locally and nationally for Home Depot, the “Hurricane Expo” and hurricane season.
